Serif Yenen is a lecturer, travel writer, publisher, tourist guide and photographer in Turkey. In short, he is a travel specialist on Turkey. "I was born in Odemis, Izmir (in 1963), and studied at Kuleli Military High School (1977-1981) in Istanbul. I have studied English for more than 20 years, earned a degree in English Philology at the University of Istanbul (1985) and taught English as a second language for 4 years at Maltepe Military High School and 2 years at private schools. I started working as a tourist guide in 1989 and have been doing it with great enthusiasm since then. I have been elected as the chairman of the Istanbul Tourist Guides Guild (IRO), Federation of Turkish Tourist Guides (TUREB) and Tourist Guides Foundation (TUREV) since 2002, and was an executive board member of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) between 2003 and 2007 for two terms. I spent five years (1993-1997) in writing my guidebook "Turkish Odyssey", and published it in 1997. The second revised English edition and the Turkish edition "Anadolu Destani" were published in 1998. The third English edition, the German (Die türkische Odyssee) and Italian versions (In Turchia) with the multimedia production of the same work as a CD-ROM were all published in 2001. I have been writing articles in travel magazines, a weekly newspaper column on tourism, and have been developing and publishing travel-related websites like ‘www.turkishodyssey.com’. I am a photographer and have a very large collection of images of Turkey consisting of thousands of slides, most of which are published at my website on photography: www.imagesturkey.com As a licensed professional tourist guide, I give comprehensive guiding and lecture services especially to American travelers. I have many years' experience of guiding in Istanbul and all over Turkey.
